SED TV is officially Canon SED TV as of January 29 after the purchase of Toshiba‘s shares in SED Inc.
Canon has stated that they plan to begin mass production of SED TV panels in the last quarter of 2007, at a rate of approximately 1,000 panels per month.
“For now, Canon will produce a limited number of SED panels at its Hiratsuka plant in Kanagawa Prefecture and ship them to Toshiba for TV assembly. The two companies plan to start selling SED TVs under their own names later this year, with combined monthly sales targeted at 1,000 units.
Canon will then establish a mass-production system and launch integrated manufacturing operations on its own.”
Good news from Canon after all the bad news of the last 6 weeks or so.
