AUSTIN, TX, Jan 12, 2007 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) — Nano-Proprietary, Inc. (NNPP) today announced that it is pleased Canon, Inc.(CAJ) and Toshiba Corporation have decided to continue to move forward with their SED TV.
“Restructuring of Canon’s ownership position does not resolve the pending litigation which goes to trial in a few weeks,” said Tom Bijou, Chief Executive Officer of Nano-Proprietary, Inc. “We have terminated Canon’s license as a result of breach of contract. Moreover, our complaint against Canon includes other counts, including fraud unrelated to the ownership of SED. We are, however, willing to enter into a new license agreement with Canon on reasonable terms.”
Ouch! This whole SED TV saga goes from bad to worse to good to bad, all in two weeks. Stay tuned. I’m sure there is more coming.

lmao – I love this quote from their home page:
“Nanotechnology will completely restructure industries and economies and is recognized as technology disruptive to every field.”

I wouldn’t worry about this lawsuit too much. I’m pretty sure the SED company fit the legal definition of a subsidiary before Canon bought out the remaining stock, so they were within their rights to use Nano’s tech, and Nano wouldn’t have a legal basis for ending the contract. But I guess it depends on what the courts say.
Still, unless Canon ends up bankrupt (and even if they do), the worst this will probably mean for SED is that it will get delayed again. Too much money has been spent on it at this point and it has too much potential to be totally abandoned.

Man I have high hopes for SEDs for computer monitors OLEDs are basically the same as LCDs WHY? because they use flouresent tubes for lighting which sucks big time in my book. I’m allergic to LCDs so I hope my 19″ CRTs last 50 years or so. I can tolerate laptops but not LCD screen I’ve heard people who buy LCD for TVs and they get major headaches and other symptoms.
