Just an update on Canon’s SED Inc. In Canon’s R&D Manufacturing and Marketing Subsidiaries and Affiliates list, SED Inc. is listed as currently having 387 employees and Activities / Production items is listed as SED panels. The address, if anyone would like to check it out is;
22-5, Tamura 9-chome, Hiratsuka-shi, Kanagawa 254-0013, Japan
I think we’re all looking forward to hearing more about the success of Canon’s new SED TV technology that avoids the original Nano patents.

Thanks to Bryan for the info.

So there is still hope of getting a large screen that doesn’t run my electric bill through the roof.

Thanks for keeping up with developments. I’m hoping something comes of them too, even though it doesn’t look like it’ll be before I break down and buy *something.*

Anyone know if SED plans to take on Computer displays?

There was a mention of SED monitors a couple of years ago but nothing since. I’m going to see if I can get some new info from SED Inc. on what they’re up to.

What’s really great about this is that Canon has little interest in OLED at this point, except perhaps for digital cameras. I think that OLED’s thinness has more bling factor than’s SED’s picture quality, so I’m worried we might never see any commercial SED or even FED pannels from the traditional Flat Pannel makers.
I know Sony invested in FED, but they are also pushing OLED big time. OLED isn’t so bad anyway, but I’ wondering how it will fare against SED.

I wonder if Cannon Stock will ever go though the roof?
I kinda suspect Cannon held onto this tech because they are the camera company and need
correct colors to work from.
